Am I being a b@#$% or no?

My fiance and I have been planning our wedding since last January. We agreed on a big church wedding since we are both Catholic and reception because we have big families. Now that we are in the actual planning stages he wants nothing to do with it! And he has been writing a book he thinks will make him famous, which is great. BUT he wants to spend 1300$ to publish this book instead of contributing to our wedding fund. I am so mad I can't even talk to him right now! Am I over reacting or no?

I think it's a little selfish of you to expect him to spend that money on the wedding instead of something he is passionate about. I would encourage my husband to follow his dreams of writing and publishing a book-not get mad at him for not giving me a big wedding.

Getting married is a huge deal to men. They get overwhelmed easily. My husband didn't help out at all...all he did was pick the ties, which his grandma (who basically controlled everything in our wedding) already picked out.
Men have all their single friends dragging them down, telling them not to do it. All of their married friends talk about their "ol' ball and chain".
Give him no reason to turn back now. While I don't agree on spending that much to get a book published, do be that amazing fiancé that encouraged him to follow his dreams.

Well i think it's better to spend money on something that will benefit you in the future, in this case if his book will really make  it and will be beneficial for your economy later in life it's worth it , on the other hand I understand your wishes on a beautiful wedding , for us girls it's a dream since we were little but guys don't think that way . You should make an agreement so you both make it work

I completely understand wanting your dream wedding. However, I would try to keep some perspective. Your wedding is a one day event. If this book is as successful as he hopes and dreams it will be, this could launch his career and be huge for him, which seems like a far bigger deal than a one day event. Ether way, you get to marry the man of your dreams :) but I would just encourage him to follow his dreams as well!
