Not at all! I threw my own baby shower (because I'm a control freak lol) and it was a blast!!! I feel like it was very successful because I know my friends and family all very well, and I knew what games and food would be most appreciated by my guests.

I'm throwing mine. I'm paying for all the decorations and decorating it myself (with help) because I WANT TO. I'm very picky idk how I would handle someone else doing it all for me and me not having much of a say so. PLUS I don't have any girlfriends only associates, people also don't have money to pay for someone's whole baby shower these days. My oldest sister is going to host at the shower. I wasn't going to have one but my mom kept insisting! My bfs father is providing his music studio as the venue. My bfs mom is buying my cake, my mom and grandma are supplying the food. My colors are pink gold and white. I found a lot of my pink table ware for $1 ea because it's valentines month so a lot of pink things are marked down. I'm waiting until valentines candy goes on sale to buy candy for my candle table cause my candle will be pink and gold . I got about 90% of my decorations ready an boxed up. I just have to rent the tables and chairs. I got my invitations done  at vistaprint. In very proud of myself for planning this

I'm throwing my own as well, our family is far and don't have that close of a friends here to offer to throw one :) and we primarily want to see everyone and have a good time before the baby comes. I honestly don't see anything wrong with it, but some people are more traditional about it :)
