Will you choose godparents?

I think I don't have the best experience with my own godparents as they have been infrequent in my life since childhood (and they are blood related). My DH and I just aren't sure if this is necessary. BTW I'm a godmother myself and I've always been there for my godchild though her parents have never sent me a godmother card or anything. I'm a aunt that just buys more things. Lol

We're not Christians (I'm Pagan, he's Atheist) so no godparents but we will be having a naming ritual n appointing guardians. 
The weird thing is, despite the difference in religions, we are actually going to be godparents ourselves this year! lol

I'm not. I just did a living will and have down who will raise my kids should anything happen. My husband has already passed away so I have my mom getting my 2 kids if anything happens to me with my now SO helping with them. My kids are 15 & 12 so not a huge issue. I'm 36 weeks with #3 and will be adding him to my living will also, but he will be left with my SO and then my mom. Everyone needs to have a living will because you never know what will happen. My husband passed away while we were out riding 4-wheelers. Never expected it at all and I was on the back with him. We both could have lost our life and mine and his family would be fighting over the kids. After the funeral I did my living will so I know who would be taking care of my kids and it's my decision, not the courts.

We are choosing godparents, though not in the religious sense. We live far from family and are choosing nearby close friends who share our values (and have great kiddos themselves as proof!) and who can be positive role models for our kids. Still, we aren't asking them officially until we see them interact with our kids and make an effort without the title. Even though we have close friends in mind, we're planning to wait and see around 6 months-1 yr. My husband is Methodist and I'm Hindu and we plan to raise the kids with both (never been a problem for us) so they will be baptized and have a Hindu blessing ceremony that the god parents take part in at around a yr.

I gave my son godparents when he was baptised  
They are also his guardians if anything happens to me before he's an adult 
I'm a godmother to my best friends youngest - she has 3 and just said which one do you want and I picked him ❤
I've got a good relationship with my godmother and even though I'm too old to need her I still go round for coffee / wine

My family isn't religious and our "godparents" have always just been the people who would be our legal guardians should anything have happened to our parents.

We'll be naming my husband's sister and her husband as "godparents," but unless something happens to us they'll just be Aunt and Uncle to our kids.

My sister is the only godparent for all 3 of my kids. She isn't married. If she had been married, her husband would be the god father. We didnt have anyone else in our lives that we felt would be there for our kids. My sister loves our kids like her own and will always be there for them for whatever they need. I know usually people will pick more than one person, but we felt she was the best and only choice for us. Along with being the godmother, my sister would raise our kids if anything were to happen to my husband and I. Mine and my sisters God parents didnt really play an active role in our lives. I wanted different for my kids. I'm so happy with who we chose. I say do it however you are happy. You don't have to stick to certain guidlines when choosing or not choosing god parents.

No. I don't believe in that. I believe in God but not god parents.none of my moms kids had them, in fact nobody I know had them except my older sister who has a different mom, that's what they do on their side of the family. If something happened to me, next of kin is her father, if something happened to both of us I would want my sister to take her or my bfs mom (she's estatic about her first grand baby girl)

My children's godparents are more like their spiritual advisors I guess. If anything happens to my husband and I we have set down who will be legal guardians, and it's not the same as godparents.
