When will it start working??

So I just took my first birth control pill today, but I'm wondering when it actually starts working. My bf and I always use condoms and we wanted to stop using thenm or at least use them less often. when is a safe time to stop using them?? A week or a month or? Also another question ahah when I'm on bc is it risky if he cums in me because I definitely don't want to get pregnant haha
