Dreading Losing the Baby Bump

Meg

I'm already staring to dread losing the bump. I'm plus size already, usually wearing around an 18 or 1X. I have been so much more confident and comfortable the last couple of months having this baby bump. I'm up about 20lbs and it's all in the belly. I have felt comfortable in the maternity clothes not worrying about my stomach because baby is there. I wear things that look much better on me now than before I was pregnant just because of shape. I otherwise have a B shaped belly with a crease at the belly button level and a roll above and a roll below. But with baby it's a nice smooth round belly that is socially acceptable even with my extra weight. I've loved it.

From everything I've been told and read I expect to leave the hospital looking about six months pregnant and I so dread this. Going back to just looking fat. Emotionally I think this will be difficult for me. I imagine I will lose half of the 20lbs with baby being born between her, placenta, and fluids. But I'm going to miss the bump. I always worried I'd go crazy while pregnant and gain an enormous amount, but I felt I've done pretty well and am proud. I just worry about the letdown after the bump is gone.
