8 month old not babbling consonants!?

My son has been mastering his crawling and pulling himself up, and he has even tried walking along our couches. He seems to be developing fine in these areas, but I have a little concern, he has yet to babble any consonants like mama, dada, gaga etc. my question is have your little ones started to babble? Should I be concerned?

I thought I would update everyone! I was worrying for no reason at all my little man has officially started babbling! Just goes to show that I am a super big worry wart haha thank you everyone for the comments and reassuring me!

Babies do things at different speeds. My baby was babbling at 6 months and a friends baby just started now at 9 months. If you're concerned speak to your doctor but there is a very wide window for all things development!

By 8 months they should be doing some vocal play. Not to alarm you or be a downer. I wouldn't be too worried as all babies develop at their own pace. I'm an SLP so my mind goes to the language development piece. Just play with him vocally, so babble things to him and try to get him to imitate you. Play games where in order for him to get what he wants he has to make a sound. For example, tickle him and then stop. Whenever he makes a sound (any sound) during that stopped period, honor that as his communication and tickle him again as a reward and say things like " more!"  He'll be fine. No worries.

My 8 month old daughter is only just army crawling nothing else. She does say mama and Dada but that's it!

I definitely wouldn't be worried yet. Babies learn to do things at all different times. My lo is 8 months but not crawling, pulling up, or anything.....but she does talk up a storm babbling away. She was born a few weeks early so I try to consider that but I'm not worried...
