Preeclampsia

What is the worst that can happen if you get preeclampsia ? Or what do doctor's do ? Today at my appointment my blood pressure was high, they told me I had to come in next week so they can check if it's still high and my obgyn gave me a pamphlet about preeclampsia. I admit I haven't been eating the best lately these past 2 weeks and haven't been drinking water but this has been a wake up call and i'm going to start eating healthier. But I was wondering has anyone had preeclampsia did you have to be induced or anything ?
