Confused & disappointed

Hey ladies, my name is Kaila. I am ttc baby number one! Recently I have been 'feeling pregnant.' I've had just about all of the symptoms except for morning sickness. My last period was the week before Christmas, so it's been a minute. At first I thought my period might be late because I had just moved to another state, and it is said those kind of things can make your period late, but then about 3 weeks ago what I thought was my period, might have been spotting. I 'bled' for 3 1/2 days. It was a brownish color & it wasn't heavy like a normal period. It was just a little spotting and I could only see it when I used the bathroom and wiped. I just took a test & it was negative. But I just don't understand what could be going on?? I was so upset to see the negative and I was just wondering if anyone might know what is going on with me? Should I take another test in the morning when I first wake up like its recommended?
