Baby registry gifts w.o baby shower?

Question

I just moved across the country with my fiancé and don't know anyone here. How do I go about recieving gifts off of my registry, without having a baby shower? (From friends / family from back east.) 
Without seeming rude, or greedy.

Maybe go home for a shower. Unless people ask for your registry info I wouldn't ask for stuff from it.

Look into a virtual shower! That's what my husband and I did.

My husband is in the army and just got deployed. We're originally from CT but my mom lives in Florida so I moved in with her since it's close to our duty station also so my parents can meet and spend time with their first grandbaby. Well none of my family or his family is here so they're throwing us a virtual baby shower on fb. My husbands mom set it up and put our registry links on it. So far we've gotten 2 things off our registry :) we post updates of the baby and maternity pics and his mom puts together games like guess the babies weight, due date etc. She then will send prizes to the winners. And when we recieve gifts we send out thank you cards. It's pretty nice and simple:)

My mom was just going to throw a shower without me for her friends but we were able to go back for it
