Failed IVF. What to ask at our review appt?

Our 1st IVF yielded no viable embryos. I'm no longer angry, just numb? Anyway, what should we ask the doctors at our upcoming review? We would like to do another IVF cycle, again with ICIS & PGS. Are there any tests you would recommend?

There are supplements you can take to improve your egg quality- myo inositol has some good studies on it.
I saw an RE who recommended it. Also DHEA (depending on your current levels); if it's low, it will help also.

Sorry to hear about your cycle. We had an unsuccessful one as well. It's really tough. I would ask your clinic what they would do differently next time - e.g. new protocol. For us, they don't know what happened so they have to change everything. You don't want to do the same thing again if it didnt work. I would also ask for a day by day explanation of what happened - e.g. what day your embryos arrested on, their grades before arrest. It's not always about egg quality and there are ways to improve sperm selected for ICSI too.

Like other posters said, the first cycle is often a trial run. Unfortunately it's a very invasive and expensive one ;) Sometimes cycles aren't successful by fluke and the next cycle is completely different. Good luck!

I had the same. 3 eggs at first cycle, no embryos to freeze (we were freezing all).
The 1st cycle is often a 'trial run' of sorts to inform your specialist& team about how you respond to medication, egg quality etc.
I was on a high dose of gonal f (375iui) on cycle 1. Heartbroken afterwards, I did some reading (especially on ovarian insufficiency/ low egg reserves and mini IVF), and at the next consultation, both the specialist & I agreed on a lower dose gonal f (150iui) for better quality, as the drugs weren't getting extra follicles anyway. Sure enough, 3 of 4 eggs collected on 2nd cycle became healthy embryos, and 1 of 3 eggs on 3rd cycle.
I feel the higher dose 'nuked' my eggs on cycle 1.
