BBT....do you really need a special thermometer???

I haven't been tracking my bbt, thinking about trying that.  Can you use a regular thermometer or do you have to buy a special one?  Thanks!!!!

I bought mine from Walmart for $8. 
I get up the same time everyday for work besides one day. 
So my temps are all pretty much the same. Besides when I ovulated , u can see the dip. Then the rise right after. Pretty cool.

I have one, but read online that unless you can take your temp at the same time every day it's not 100% accurate. I also read that if you do not have at least 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep before taking your temp it can be inaccurate.  So although you can get a good general idea, know that those things can throw it off.

I use the standard one decimal kind it works just fine still shows drops and spikes as it should

I would love to see any answers posted here! I just started temping this month with a regular thermometer and I'm on day 9, and my temps are all over the place.

I just got one off Amazon. 23 bucks. I think it gives a more accurate read. I talked to my doctor yesterday and she actual told me that they don't advise women who are TTC to take their temps. She said you have to be very meticulous and it's a lot of work and if you don't do it right it doesn't help. I'm still going to do what I can with it since I already bought it lol
