Can I still get a tattoo?

Ok so I'm 18 right now and I really want a tattoo, been thinking about it for a while and I know exactly what I want. I live in NYC so the legal age to get a tattoo is 18. My problem is that I don't have a state issued form of ID. Are there any other IDs I can bring to prove my age?

I didn't either I just brought my birth certificate and a picture id I brought my student id

You have to have a government issued picture ID. Just a birth certificate won't suffice since anybody can bring in anybody's birth certificate and say it's them.

You have to have ID or they won't let you get a tattoo. Maybe bring your birth certificate, but they might think you look a little silly showing them that.

I got my tattoo at 17, obviously my parents had to be there, I brought my school ID and my birth certificate.
