Pins & needles in Tongue?!

Has anyone else got this strange symptom? Has happened to me about 8 or 9 times now in the past month, every time it happens, it's just after I eat (but not every time I eat). Lasts for about 15-20 minutes each time. It's horrible - such a weird, uncomfortable feeling. Sometimes it's right to the back of my tongue too. Just wondering if anyone else has had this or heard of it?

I had an episode a few weeks ago where my hand went to sleep, then my arm and the same side of my face. It lasted about 10 minutes, but felt so scary.  My midwife had never experienced that, and looking it up, it looked like either carpal tunnel or just the baby sitting on a nerve. I haven't had it since.  I would run it by a doctor, but seeing that it's temporary, try not to worry too much.

These are likely something called paresthesias. They are neurological in origin.  And they can signify that preeclampsia might be coming. Tell your ob right away and get your bp and urine checked. It can also be absolutely nothing.

I've had this! I wondered what it was! Such a strange feeling, I assumed it was something in what I was eating, didnt even occur to me it could be pregnancy related!

Marissa - I was considering this idea but there's nothing I can pinpoint - I thought it was potatoes, but then it doesn't always happen when I eat potatoes and there have been times it has happened when I didn't eat potatoes. Was speaking to the pharmacist on the phone today and she said if it was an allergy it would be more likely to show up on my skin. She seems to think it's nerve-related - maybe the baby (especially as he's getting bigger) is pressing on a nerve at times depending on what way he's sitting. She also said it might be something to do with my blood sugars (which have been on the low side throughout my pregnancy). But she's not sure - she said she's never come across it before.

That's an allergic reaction my SIL gets when she eats apples and bananas. Maybe it's something you're eating allergies can pop up during pregnancy.

My tongue hurt when I was pregnant with my last baby. I had an iron deficiency and had to be put on iron pills. It was the weirdest thing bc I had no clue that was a symptom. It went completely away after I started on them. Do they check your iron every visit?
