Why make a registry??

I had my baby shower yesterday. We got a lot of stuff and it's all nice but we only got 10 items from our registry. I'm sorry but I took the time to go make it and put all the information on my invitations and reminded people of it. I feel like it's pointless to do if no one wants to but you what you really need. I'm a FTM and don't have a lot of this stuff. I don't need more clothes cause I but them all the time. I need bottles and diapers and things that are important. Not more clothes! Sorry for the rant but I know a lot of moms have the same problem.
