When do you have a baby shower?

Hi ladies,
This is my first babe and I feel like I have a million questions! lol When did you start buying baby things, how far along should you be when you have a baby shower? What do you really even need?

I was about 30 weeks when we had mine.  It was good, nice big belly, but still comfortable.  Also gave me plenty of time to exchange and get anything else we still needed. 😉

We registered late in my second trimester and my mother in law through my shower mid 3rd trimester. So I still had a mouth to get things ready be for my son arrived. I will not be purchasing anything till after the 20 week ultrasound just to make sure baby is healthy and growing appropriately, and to know the sex of the babe.

Hi we all have these kind of questions lol I'm pregnant with my second child right now. But when I was pregnant with my first my shower was really late. I was are 8 months preggers and my son came 3 weeks early. If I had one this time around I would say 6-7 months is a nice time. You have the belly but you aren't huge and uncomfortable yet. And it still gives you time to get anything you need that you didn't receive.

When I was pregnant with my first, we scheduled the baby shower for about 3-4 weeks before my due date... I ended up having my son a month early, and he ended up having jaundice, so while he was still in the hospital, I got released and rushed through my baby shower, not pregnant, baby in the hospital, could not enjoy it at all. Once I got everything had to rush big time to wash everything and get it all ready for him to come home... My advice is you never what's going to happen, so plan it pretty early.
