MILs!!

I have a question for the ladies out there with MILs from hell. Was she the same why while you two were dating or did she get horrible after marriage? Any stories in particular? My boyfriends mom is SUPER protective, and wants him to talk to her every week or she feels neglected. She likes me now but I'm afraid what she'll be like when we get married...
