Random poll.. Do you use a dishwasher?

I hate the dishwasher. I am currently living with my parents while we redo our house and my moms dishwasher is so nasty.  There is always old food chunks on the dishes and it stinks. I always always pre clean the dishes before I put them in there but it still happens! I would just hand wash them but there is 6 people here and way to much to keep up with!

It sounds like the dishwasher is either getting overloaded, needs the filters cleaned, or has the wrong type of soap in it.  If your dishwasher is working properly and you're pre-rinsing big food off, it shouldn't be leaving food on the dishes.

We use a dishwasher but a lot of people tend to overlook the fact that like any other appliance it needs to be cleaned.

I aim to clean ours once a week but at minimum it's still cleaned twice a month.

Yeah it sounds like you need it cleaned out. I had mine cleaned out and there was a bunch of stuff clogged in the hose. Now it works great and there is never any chunks. But also make sure you rinse off crumbs and chunks of food before putting it in the dishwasher. Your dishwasher isn't a garbage disposal!

I don't know why people use dishwashers when most people clean them before putting them in there anyway. I wash my dishes by hand. By the time I stick all the dishes in there, I would've been done washing them..

I don't use my dishwasher. I prefer to wash dishes by hand and set them out to dry. That way I know they're actually really clean when we use them again.

We had an old dishwasher from a rental and it did that. The tenants previously didn't clean the food off and it got stuck in pipes/filters, all the Little openings and we even pulled it a part to fix/clean (which was disgusting) 
We ended up just buying a new one but before we did we used it as a drying rack and washed in sink. We bought machine cleaner and it helped a bit but unless you pull it all apart and clean properly it may keep happening :(
