Egg donor or adoption?

Question

Given the choice, would you rather use donor eggs & carry the babes yourself, or adopt? I don't need to go through pregnancy to feel like a mom but would do overseas adoptions. However, my husband would really like children with at least one of our DNAs and overseas takes min.4 years. Feeling sad & tired 😔

Both have pros and cons. Donor eggs mean you know that baby had healthy gestation. In adoption, you may not have the luxury of knowing a mother's diet, whether she smoked, took recreational drugs, etc. You also are able to build a connection with the child that may be a little deeper through growing it. Also, you don't have to worry about birth parents entering into the picture at unwanted moments.

With adoption, you protect your health since you aren't putting that pressure on the body. You may be able to save a little money depending on what adoption route you choose (international adoption can be greatly more expensive die to travel expenses). You also have that good feeling of saving a child's life by giving them a brighter future.

I personally would rather take in a baby in need through adoption and not put that strain on my body since I have a complicated medical history. However, my husband would rather use his sperm and a donor egg to have that biological child. If it can't be biological though, he said he would go adoption over donor embryo since it isn't necessary to put my body through the pain of both options are not biological. However, one could make the argument that sharing blood, tissue, etc with a growing fetus makes it biologically part of the mother even if not genetic. We would still go adoption though.

I would love to donate eggs .. My husband and I had problems conceiving due to his problems.. And my body has no problems I told him it was my dream to surrogate one day or at least donate eggs:-)

I think adoption is great and certainly something I'd more than consider but if given the choice I think I'd try donor eggs a few times first. Good Luck!

I think adoption is a wonderful thing. That said I have loved being pregnant and giving birth is a monumental experience- so for myself I think I would at least try for donor egg.

Thing is even with donor egg there is no guarantee that it will result in a successful pregnancy. With adoption you are 100% sure that you will be a mom/ dad to a child who needs a loving and safe home ❤️

Fyi India now is doing Hague adoptions and the wait times are MUCH shorter. Talk to Adoption Avenues!

Look into embryo adoption!!!!! It's much faster than traditional adoption, and you are able to view the ethnicity quality as well as health quality of the donors.

I think if in that situation I would adopt a baby already in our world. Especially if you dont feel the need to carry :)
