Anemic and iron supplement not working

I've been taking my iron supplement (27 mg) in the morning with vitamin c in addition to the iron present in my prenatal vitamins (30 mg) in the evening after dinner and I'm STILL EXHAUSTED!! I also have upped my intake of green veggies and red meat (even though I can't stand red meat)- any ideas to boost my energy??
