How does the pill work generally? I'm 16 and I have appointment scheduled with my doctor and I want the pill but I don't know too much about it. Can someone give me a overview?

The pill is literally a pack of pills that come in two colors depending on your birthcontrol. You take the birthcontrol at the same time every day! That is very important to know if you are using the pill for preventing pregnancy. The pill can help lighten your period and sometimes shorten the cycle length. I.e. my friend's period used to be really bad with cramps and heavy bleeding that lasted for five days and now the cramps aren't as bad and her period is light and lasts only three days. It just depends on how your body takes to it. Warning, some pills can cause you to gain weight; don't use this as an excuse for gaining too much weight. Most times the person will only gain 5-10 pounds, if any at all.
