Maternity Leave is a joke in the US

I sincerely don't feel like employers understand what becoming a mother is like. What your body is going through and what your emotions are going through. 6 weeks post partum women are still trying to adjust to the changes. Still trying to bond with their baby. And definitely still sleep deprived! And the whole "oh but we'll give you an extra 2 weeks since you were sliced open and sewn back together again!" Is just comical. And on top of it most places act put out that you will be gone for 6 weeks. ITS NOT VACATION! Sheesh!
