His last name or mine?

We aren't together but are trying to co parent as best as we can. Personally I want her to have my last name but he got very upset and started threatening things so than I compromised with putting his last name and than hyphenate with my last name last. Everyone's telling me that I shouldn't even do that I should just put my last name. What's the pros and cons of doing this?

How involved will he be? Will he stick around? If he's going to be a dedicated father id give her his last nane or hyphenate it.
If he's an ass and you know it highly suspect he'll blow his daughter off , give her your name

If i were you, dont put him on the birth certificate. You do you until HE takes YOU to court and makes an effort. I've been through this, and once he is on there(the birth certificate), he has every right you do until you go to court for custody. Including having her, even if you dont want him to, like not having to give ger back. Its very choppy water

I gave my first son both but his dad got deported and they never met and then I had another baby I gave my last name and I changed my sons first name to only mine so all my kids will have the same last name.

If he plans to be in the kids life then I would say yes. But if he isn't then just have your last name.
