Is anyone having to test blood sugar daily?

About 5 mo ago my a1c results came back at 5.7 which is borderline prediabetic. My doctor was quick to put me on metformin to help me reverse it. We completely changed my diet added daily exercises and I was able to get pregnant. I soon realized I can't stop drinking water and I knew that was a sign of both pregnancy and diabetes. My ob set me up with the nutritionist and I am following an even more strict diet and now taking my blood sugar daily. My A1c dropped down to normal range but I guess they are having me do this for peace of mind? It is so stressful!
