My SO has been trying to get us try Anal sex and I am down for it, but I  don't get myself to enjoy it,and it's affecting him not enjoying it too. I am always tensed and all, but I really wanna enjoy it and make it part of our sex life.

Steps to having successful anal sex:
1. Maintain open and honest two way communication before, during, and after the experience. 
2. Lubrication is a must. Don't be afraid to get in there with the lube and don't use it sparingly. Lube is important! Thicker lubes tend to work better, but stay away from Vaseline and the like, especially as a beginner. Water-based lubes like Astroglide work well with condoms, and olive oil also works wonderfully (just not with condoms or toys).

Relax relax relax...when I'm expecting it to hurt and get tensed it hurts worse. You know that feeling when getting a back massage when you have really sore muscles, but you have to force yourself to relax for the massage to actually do anything? I wasn't a fan of anal at first but I really enjoy it now! It helps me to get warmed up first either by starting with vaginal sex or with some sort of foreplay. If you're already in the mood it's easier to stay relaxed and see anal as being sexy. My partner and I usually skip this step now but light anal fingering helps to prepare you.
