Shaving and sex!!??

Okay so I'm a virgin and I am probably going to loose my virginity in the next month. I am looking for tips on how to get a clean shave because whatever I'm doing now just doesn't work for me. I always end up having red bumbs..

I was thinking about waxing if I can't find a way to stop the bumbs. I've tried conditioner but that doesn't seem to do the job. Should I spend money on an expensive razor? Just wondering I want to be 100% comfortable with my appearance when the time comes to have sex..
