Pronunciation Debate!! Where you from?!

What do you call the little bear candies? Those little spongy "gummy" delightful snacks... Growing up I was taught to say Gummi (goo-me). Kaugummi is a German word for gum. I think gummi translates as rubber. My mother hates gummy. We used gummy a few times after we heard it and we were corrected. Lol When I hear gummy I kind if cringe. Recently I used Gummi and someone was actually confused, so I had to explain. Where are you from? Do you call them gummy bears or gummis??
