Cerclage anyone?

Question

I have an appointment in two weeks for placement of a cerclage. This really scares me! I am nervous about it in general, as I have never had anything surgical or even semi-surgical done! I would love to hear from you galls if you have had the procedure done and what your experience was, this would help me greatly, good or bad! Thank you in advance!

I haven't had a cerclage but I've had shortening of the cervix to where there was nothing left to measure at 26 weeks .. I'm currently 39+5.
Where as my sisters friend had cerclage put in at 21 weeks, and she delivered baby at 28+5...

I had one ppaced at 22+6 it was a rescue cerclage after I went from 4.5 cm to 1 cm with funneling and buldging membranes... I had to be put under general anesthesia so they could really get in and see what they can fix... I had an IV placed.. And a catheter but i think thats standard for general anesthesia... I went to sleep and woke up in recovery.. After an hour I was able to go home.. They were able to recover .5 cm with a very strong stitch...

Recovery was okay... I was a little sore for 3 days.. I spotted for 3 and then it was bedrest for me.. I'm currently 24+4 and still measuring 1.5cm which is great.. The stitch is doing its job...

I hear it's way easier to get early as a preventative.. I will next pregnancy..  Its really nothing to worry about.. Its making sure the cervix behaves
