My pediatrician says if you can drive you can breastfeed. She also said pumping and dumping doesn't work. It'd be like trying to pump out some blood then taking a blood alcohol test.. Doesn't work.

Pumping and dumping doesn't do anything. Alcohol circulated through your breast milk like it does through your blood. Once it's out of your blood, it's out of your breast milk too.

I would say it depends on the timeframe that you had them. Did you drink them all in 15 minutes? Or over four hours. I've had two glasses of wine over two hours and didn't dump. I do try to wait to have the first glass till after my son ate. But none the less I only gradually introduce alcohol into my system to see if it affected his bowl movements the next day. It doesn't affect him so far.

If you are really having 4 drinks and considering not dumping you should buy the test strips to find out if there is alcohol in your milk and when it's gone again.
