Marriage counseling

Has anyone gone through it that would share there experiences? My husband wants to try it. I think we are past that point and it won't help us. What was it like? If they only help you talk to each other and communicate, well, I don't have a problem doing that in a constructive manner. He listens and says he understands but has nothing more to say and never has any follow up actions or conversations. Can anyone share there experiences on this topic?
