Light bleeding

I was not supposed to get my period for another week. I was having sex yesterday morning and my partner had realized that he had blood on him. It shocked me because I haven't been cramping or anything and I never noticed blood when I went to the bathroom throughout the day. After I woke up, I went to the bathroom and there was only blood when I wiped and it was really light compared to usual. Normally when I have my period it's heavy and I have to pee a lot but, I've barely had to go to the bathroom the past few days. I don't know whether to consider this my period or spotting. Any suggestions?
