Breakup depression

My boyfriend broke up with me last night over the phone because of a distance problem,  and now I don't know what to do..... He was my first everything. I liked him a lot, and I thought he felt the same way. He said he was sorry, then hung up. He then called my best friend and cried to her about it. I cried until 1am last night (4 hours), and cried this morning when I woke up. I feel like I could've done something more, but I know I couldn't have. I tried my best to make him happy, but I couldn't. I hate myself right now, and need help
