Does this ever happen to you?

Usually on the last day of my period I'm barely spotting (if at all). Sadly, I'm one of the unlucky ones that endures an extended stay of at least 8 days with Mother Nature. That being said when my period finally stops (or tricks me into thinking it has) I'm more than ready to be intimate with my boyfriend again. I can go all day without bleeding but if we have sex, it's like it kicks my period switch back on and I'll bleed for another day or two. 🙁 Does this happen to anyone else? Or does anyone know why it happens?
