Letrozole/Femara, Metformin, Novarel

Apple
I'm 32 with PCOS and TTC for 2 yrs now. First year was Metformin only. 2nd year was Metformin and Clomid, which threw me off. I had a hysteroscopy done 2 weeks ago to remove a begnin mass and some polyps. Post-op ultrasound showed everything is perfect now. I was prescribed Letrozole, which I have to start today and for the next 5 days or so. Next step is intercourse, ultrasound, and then if egg size doesn't increase then Novarel.
After doing some quick research I learned that Letrozole is actually given to breast cancer patients to reduce estrogen levels. I'm not a science person and a bit confused on why I'd need my estrogen lowered.
Has anyone else experienced taking Letrozole and/or Novarel? What was your experience?
