Can I have a home birth if I'm overweight?

I want that natural home birth experience. I'm healthy in all ways except I'm overweight. Will a midwife turn me away? I'm not pregnant yet, and making healthy choices everyday to lose weight but what if I get pregnant before I hit an ideal weight?

No. Not unless your weight makes you have complications to where they would consider you high risk.

If a midwife turns you away, then she obviously isn't the right midwife for you. They are supposed to respect what you want to do, regardless of how much you weigh.

Weight isn't an issue for birth. If you have other health issues like gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia by the end of your pregnancy, a hospital birth may be recommended.

Depends what your bmi is as there is a higher risk of slipping and falling due to carrying that bit extra weight. But usually there shouldn't be a problem
