Nursemaids Elbow!

Brittany
So I rushed my sweet Kairi to the er last night at 3am because she was screaming in pain and her arm was completely limp. I thought for sure she had broken it or something. We got there and the entire visit was no longer than 30 minutes. We went in and they knew exactly what it was. Her elbow had somehow become dislocated during the course of the night. They told me some of the things that could cause this are:
-Picking her up by the hands
-Holding her hands while she's standing, and she slips and falls
-Her arm getting caught in a tight space (crib bars perhaps)
Just to name a few.
They said it's extremely common from newborn to three years old.
I'm just posting this as a warning. Do some research on it, but also know if it happens, it's NOT your fault. More than half of babies have it happen at least once.
