How many of you are throwing your own baby shower?

What are your thoughts on this?

I honestly do not do baby showers only because I'm not into the games and such.. I'm a country girl and absolutely LOVE my cookouts with family and friends so my husband and I just have a huge baby celebration cookout. It consists of a pot luck dinner and if others would like they can bring a gift but it's not really expected or needed (which of course everyone still does knowing a baby is on its way) maybe something like that may work better for you if you are shy of girl friends or something? I actually debated throwing my own shower but it just didn't seem right and luckily my DH family offered to throw me one. I'd rather take the money I would spend on the shower and apply it to needed items for the baby. (We spent $200 on our gender reveal.) Our parents are getting us presents regardless and most of our friends are buying cute clothes (nothing off the registry).
I have a very small group of friends and none of my family lives here so we might have 13 people at the shower. If I wasn't having a shower thrown for me. I would register, make it known, and then just have a sip and see after the baby comes. Then you'll know what size your baby is and you can get more accurate clothing, and you can test out a few diaper options and ask for those.

I am. I don't have too many friends but the ones who wanted to throw it dont really get along and they weren't getting things done, so I just took over. I will have friends help decorate and my mother in law helped me get the venue, but I'm paying for it all myself.

I was going to but my sister & mom are planning it. I'm helping though because I want my theme and I like things a certain way. I want owls and blue n grey. I picked everything out there just picking the place and decorating setting up.

I did but mostly just because I love to plan parties. My girls were 6 years apart so we had a diaper shower for my youngest because I still had all my oldest's clothes. This one is our 1st boy. I wanted to do something to celebrate him too but not make people feel like they need to contribute with gifts.
