Can I ask them to induce me?

Question

Does the doctor have to induce me if I ask them to? My due date is the 23rd of June and I'm wanting to have him on the 19th for a couple of reasons. 
1. It's father's day this year and that would just be awesome for my fiance.
2. It's my fiances aunt and great grandmother's birthday. 
3. It's the day my grandfather died from cancer. It'll be 10 years this year and for something as awesome as my first son birth would just be great!
My mom had to have c-sections with me and my sisters since she couldn't have us naturally. It would be nice if they'd induce me so they can keep an eye on me incase something goes wrong. I'm just curious as to if they'd do that for me. 
Any thoughts on this would be nice. It's my first and I'm confused on it all.

They won't induce you for anything other than medical reasons

I would say no. Especially since it is your first. Typically, this is reserved for medical reason, and even then I am someone who has my doubts about whether it's really necessary most of the time.

Bear this in mind also... Being induced is NOT pleasant. Labor is much more intense, longer, and more painful. It can also often times lead to c-section or other interventions that may have not otherwise been necessary.

I know that day is special for you... But no matter what day he comes... That day will be pretty damn special too :)

First: you won't be induced on a weekend....
Second: even IF you would be induced on June 19th - there is NOT guaranted that your Baby will be born on this date... Often induced labor lasts for more than 24 hours... or it doesn't work at the first try...
Third: if your labor starts at his own you will be as watched as if you're in labor who was induced.
Fourth: your risk of getting a C-section after beeing induced is 200% increased.
Fifth: there is a chance that your Baby will be born on this date anyway..... Be patient and wait it out.

They won't usually induce you unless you are over your due date or for a Medical reason but you could ask. Just don't be disappointed if they say no.

I chose to be induced on my due date, @ 40 weeks. It wasn't for a medical reason, I wanted to. And I'm sure glad I did because I delivered a 9lb baby, vaginally. I had a great induction experience with my labor lasting only 14 hours start to finish. My OB told me they don't induce before 39 weeks unless there was a medical reason to do so.

They do not have to.  Some doctors will, but most won't for non-medical reasons in a normal pregnancy. You can always ask, but be prepared to be told no. Also at most hospitals, inductions are done on a Monday or Tuesday night, very very rarely on the weekend.

Thanks guys! My best friend was induced because her doctor was retiring and her labor only lasted 3 minutes! It surprised us all! He'll be a year old on Friday! I'm just trying to get a feel of things and how we want this done.

Do NOT ask for an induction unless medically necessary.... With my first my doctor didn't want to get called in on Labor Day weekend so he schedule me for an induction (I was 5 days past my due date) and I ended up being in active labor with NO progression for THREE DAYS... Ended up having an emergency c-section.... Girl trust me. It's no good.
