Do you have to buy a machine to check your sugar if you have G Diabetes?

I find out tomorrow if I passed or failed my 2nd glucose test.
I know you treat it with diet (or insulin in some cases) but do you have to purchase a blood sugar machine to check daily?

My doctor prescribed it to me. I got everything for free...picked it up same day. Now idk if there is a co-payment depending on your insurance

Yes. My dr called it in as a prescription and my insurance covered all but about $30 in test strips & lancets. I had to test 4x a day at first and now am down to 2x a day, controlled completely with diet.

I got the machine, test strips and lancets free. It took about a week for my insurance to approve it but once it went through they mailed me everything.
