Friends with an ex?

What are your feeling on you or your SO being friends with an ex? Where do you draw the line?

I'm okay with it as long as he's open and honest. My SO talks to his ex every once in a while. They'll text so I asked him to let me know when she'll talk to him. I don't ask for conversation details, but I know of I asked he would show me. There was one time she decided to call and I didn't like that so I let him know and now she doesn't call.

I am good friends with my ex. We talk about our lives and give each other advice/opinion. It took us a while to get to this point.

Neither of us are friends friends with our exes. I don't expect him to be rude to all his exes or anything, but there's no reason for either of us to dwell on them in any way. So we just don't. I wouldn't like it if he was and he wouldn't like it if I was either.

I have the occasional conversation with my ex but nothing much and I'm very open about it. I know my SO sometimes talks to his ex and her children (that he helped raise for 4yrs ish), although it doesn't bother me, especially as I talk to mine, I wish he'd say when they've spoken, it's not like he hides it as if I ask how she is (my way of knowing if they've spoken) then he answers honestly.

It was a lot harder at the beginning of our relationship as although me and my ex have talked as we do for ages, my SO and his ex were talking frequently despite her already being remarried so it appeared to be hard for his ex that he wasn't as available for her when he got with me and he got a lot of abuse from her for it.....it's better now (about time!) X

My SO is not friends with his exes but I'm still friends with mine.  I say hi in passing and the once in a while conversation but I never go out with them or stop by their house or anything like that.

I'm not currently friends with any of my exes, and my boyfriend doesn't have any. He is however friends with two of my exes. He's going paint balling with one on Friday 😂

Personally I am not friends with my ex and neither is my SO, we have no contact. But I know people who are friends with their ex and have no issues! It totally depends on you as a person and how comfortable you both are with that
