Difficulty breathing and heart racing

I am 24 weeks pregnant . Just recently I've noticed that doing small things causes me to breath heavily and I can feel my heart racing.  Has anyone else experienced this? I had my 6 month check up on Monday and the nurse stated to do the opposite when this happens. If I'm sitting , walk. If I'm walking, sit until it stops . I couldn't finish dinner last night because I couldn't breathe.
