Did you get blood drawn before you went into labor?

What other tests do they do right before birth? I was so over being poked by needles after doing the GD test.

I think they only draw your blood to know your blood type.

I'm a L&D nurse. We draw labs when patients are admitted. One is a CBC, mainly to check your platelets which is important to know if you want an epidural. The other is to get blood ready incase you need a blood transfusion after delivery. That's where I work but I'm sure every facility runs these labs when a mom is admitted but you could always ask your Dr to confirm.
