What should I do.

Question

My SO and I are not on the same page with circumcision.

He says his son WILL BE circumsized, he won't read the risks and keeps saying I am not a guy so I wouldn't understand.

I am scared of the procedure and don't want our baby to go through that pain.

I asked him what happens if it goes wrong and he said, "Well you'd get a girl just like how you wanted."

I don't know how to get on the same page as him... I don't know if he would let me push it till our baby is 2 and try to put it off...

I wouldn't sign off on a procedure with which I didn't agree. All three times the hospital asked me (and not my husband) to sign the paper.

Had he wanted to do it when I didn't, I would have just refused to sign. Simple enough.

If you do it I would do it after birth. Don't wait until the baby is 2 when it's more traumatic and he's older. My son  had a MINOR AND FIXABLE issue with his circ, required cream for a week. But I asked his urologist whah her opinion was about it. If she said to avoid circ I would've. She stated kids can have issues with them and without them! But she said she sees A LOT of 12, 13 and 14 year olds coming in and demanding to have a circ some because they feel different or whatever reason they want it.

He's the dad and if it's important to him, I believe he should have a say. I'm sorry you aren't in agreement, I know that is hard.

No my opinion, if you both don't agree, don't do it. Your son can always be circumcised later (yes, it's a bigger procedure... I know) but that part of him CANT go back on!

Yes, dad has an opinion.. It's his kid too. But so does mom. It's not left to one parent to decide such a big thing for your son. At least not in my house. But this is coming from someone who did not circumcise, because my son is perfect (to me) they way he came out and I wanted to take home all of my baby.

Well, the hospital asks the mom...not the  dad. So, ultimately, you have to give the authorization. However, you should be in agreement whichever way you go. 
It does sound to me like your SO needs to do some growing up, and take your opinions into account.

I feel like this is an American thing to be honest as where I live it's not even an option to have it done. 
You both need to be on the same page about it though. Ultimately your mom, they'll ask you for the decision and if your not comfortable with it being done, well you have your answer.

There really aren't big risks involved in the procedure, and your child will not be in pain. So that shouldn't be your reasoning for not getting the procedure done

If you don't want it that's completely cool, but your husband understands way better than you how other boys/men look at uncircumcised penises as they grow up.

There was only one kid in my high school I knew of that had an uncircumcised penis, and EVERYONE teased him about it. (This was only 6 years ago). Times haven't changed too much in regards to this subject.

You guys obviously gotta talk it out, but don't discount his opinion on the subject. His and yours both matter.

Where are you from? In America, being uncircumcised is kind of faux pas. Americans tend to be very adverse to change. In Europe, it's much more common. There are excellent reasons NOT to circumcise your son. I suggest you do some research and try to present your husband with these facts. Personally  I find it abhorrent that it's so common to chop off a bit of your child's skin. It mostly dates back to absurd religious beliefs. It will most definitely hurt (though he won't remember it). Good luck to you!  xx

I know it's dumb but I have guy friends who are uncircumcised and are very insecure about it.
