In laws giving me trashes from their home

How would you feel and react if ur mother in law gives u expired goods/drinks/canned products? And how would ur reaction be like when she sends you clothes that even her own daughter would not even dare to wear. I would rather receive a can of sardines, or a bottle of cooking oil than receive expired items.
