Were you trying? Was it planned?

Question

What do you say when people ask this?  I am not married but am very happy in my relationship. Yes, this pregnancy was a surprise but it was wanted. We had discussed having children and have been open about the what ifs before we got pregnant.  both of us are very happy and excited. I don't want this baby to ever think it was a mistake.

Isn't it crazy how nosy people become once they find out you're pregnant?? Maybe just a simple yes or we're so excited! will shut them up 😊 No one deserves the details unless you want to give them.

I get this question all the time because I got pregnant so fast after my first baby boy. When my little girl is born, the babies will be 10.5 months apart. If it's not someone I know very well, I just smile and say that it's been a blessing. I wish I could tell them it's none of their business but I'm way too polite to mouth off lol

This is my first and he was planned but I get so annoyed by this question for some reason. Unless it was someone I knew very well (in which case I would most likely already know) or they offered up the information on their own, I would never ask a woman if her pregnancy was planned, that can be a very personal a touchy question/subject.

With my first unplanned, we just told people she was our blessing. They didn't say much else and didn't get a straight answer

I know it's crazy! My boss asked me this seconds after I told her I was pregnant and my downstairs neighbor was helping me with my bags whilst I was carrying my sleeping toddler up three flights of stairs and I mentioned I was pregnant so the pram will soon live permanently in the downstairs foyer because I won't be able to bring it up and the first thing he said was, "was it planned?"

For us it's a tricky one to answer because yes we planned to start trying from January 1st but were in the lounge room mid December and were too lazy to go into the bedroom and get the condoms. We said at the time "well we are gonna start trying in two weeks anyway so if it happens, it happens". Sure enough it happened. So yeah it was planned but it was also a bit of an accident too!

Close friends know that story and to the rest I just say yes it was planned.

The first question I get asked when people see I'm pregnant is, " how long have you been married." Same thing when we bought our house together it was, "oh I didn't know you were married." We did everything completely backwards and we couldn't be happier!

It actually bothers me when people think it was planned or that we were trying because I had a miscarriage in September and they think oh you must have been trying again. No actually we weren't planning to try til June because we were so traumatized but we got a happy accident instead.

I hate this question. We've only gotten it once, but I feel like all of our friends want to ask it bc unlike everyone else who made a big deal about "trying" and told us all the details along the way, we chose to keep everything to ourselves bc it's personal and no one else needed to know. Yes its planned, and even if it wasn't, what difference would that possibly make to two ppl who have been married for 5 years!? Mind your own dang business folks! 🙄

I just say that we weren't trying but we also weren't trying to prevent a pregnancy from occurring either. 😸
