My 3 year old behaviour

So my sons about to turn three and his behaviour has changed so much. He used to listen once when I told him something and now he's does listen but he does everything with so much attitude. Is it normal at this age for three year olds to have attitude? I do tell him off and the naughty step if he takes it too far but I was just wondering if anyone else's child is going thru this phase ? He literally had a answer for everything and sometimes I don't even know what to say 😩 any help would be much appreciated
