Traveling alone at 30 weeks: 10 hour via car?

Question

My husband is out of town and wants me to drive to see him on his project for our wedding anniversary.  It's a 10 hour+ drive from me. I'm torn because I will be 30 weeks pregnant but it's our one year anniversary. I don't think it's safe but I feel guilty. My doctor said its ok with LOTS of breaks.

*our anniversary is during my work's spring break  on a week day which is why I'm considering traveling instead of him*

Think of it this way...10 hr drive isn't much longer or different than being at a desk job for 8 hrs. I'd stop even 2 hrs and shake out your legs and arms. My yoga instructor says to shake them hard a few times as if a cat has peed on you and you're trying to get it off lol. Helps surge blood into your limbs and promote better circulation. 😊

I think it's safe but sounds miserable!  My butt and back would be killing me after that. And lots of breaks turn a 10 hour drive into a 12 hour drive.

I just drive 4 and half hours to visit my parents for the weekend. I didn't drive but just sitting in the car for that long hurt EVERYTHING. My back, my hips, my legs. I'm dreading the drive home and I'm not even the one driving! I'm 30 weeks as well. If you really want to see him I'd go but just be prepared cause I'm still not much fun cause standing and walking hurts.

I wouldn't want to drive that long by myself, personally-maybe see if you can meet in the middle :) that way he seperates from work and you still get to celebrate maybe at a B&B or something :)

Make sure you get up and walk. Because your sitting you won't get good blood flow, so it'll be fine as long as you take your breaks and walk a bit. It may be more of a 12 hour drive than 10.

I completely get you ! I was in the same situation.  My midwife help me make a list of all hospitals on my long drive and a break ever hour .

I'm in the same situation. 10+ hour drive at 30 weeks. I plan on taking lots of breaks, knowing the hospitals in the area, and most importantly, buying a cushy seat cushion/pad. I might even bring ice packs or heating pads for when I get stiff.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't. I went on a 12 hr road trip at 30 weeks with my mom but could have easily went alone. Before 36 weeks it should be fine!

I wouldn't personally do it but I'm also opting out of driving 6 hours alone at 31 weeks for a family function because I just don't know how I'll feel and I'd rather not risk having an issue partway through.  There's a huge difference between driving and sitting at a desk, mainly that you can fidget at a desk but you can't really fidget while driving

This is a rather personal choice it wouldn't bother me in the slightest I'd go but I know many of my friends wouldnt I don't really slow down when I'm pregnant though tbh
