What to do with my dogs?!

So I'm 30 weeks today and I'm starting to get a little stressed out about what we will do with our two dogs when I go into labor! They are my babies and because I don't work I'm able to be home with them all day. I'm nervous about having to leave in the middle of the night because I feel like they will be scared and confused. My husband if in the military and so we don't know a lot of people in our area. My one friend is going to be having a baby one month before me so I don't want to ask her to watch them. I've posted on the Facebook pages and everyone works all day and I'm not okay with my dogs being left alone for long periods of time. Anybody dealing with the same thing? Or have any advice on what I should do? Sounds silly, but this is honestly my biggest worry for when I go into labor!

You've got a couple of options:

Start now and practice leaving them behind for increasingly longer stretches of time. See how they do. When we first got my pup she was absolutely devestated when we so much as walked out of the room. It took time, but now if we HAVE to, we can leave her for 12 hour stretches (outside, fenced yard, insulated dog house).

See if you can find a friend you could drop them off with, no matter what time of day it is.

See if you can find someone or hire someone to "dog sit" while you're gone.

You could board them (drawbacks: it can be expensive and they might be there for a few weeks because it's hard to predict when you're going to go into labour and most kennels require reservations, but it's still worth a try.)

When I have to go to the hospital, we're just going to put our dog in the backyard like we do when we go to work, and have my brother feed and walk her if we're gone a long time.

I had this exact same situation with my first. I wasn't sure if my husband or mom would be there if I went into labor before the due date and was terrified of who would take care of my dog. I went on Rover.com or one of those reputable dog sitting sites and explained my situation. I met with a really nice girl close to home who worked for the company and basically had her as a backup if something were to happen. Could you look into something like that? Often times they are insured too. You could always set up to meet the person and have them meet your dogs beforehand as well.

We have a great kennel for our dog. Anytime we go anywhere that doesn't allow dogs that's where we take her. Anytime we have showed up dogs are strutting around the place like they own it, lol. She's crate trained and they say she is very good around other dogs so she stays out a lot but when she wants to she just goes into her crate and lays there. She does that here too. That's our plan and the lady is very nice and already said when the time comes to bring her in. We don't even have to shut the crate, if we are about to leave she "knows" bc we put our shoes on and she just goes to her crate and lays there with the door open and stays until we get back home.

if you're friends with any of your neighbors, and trust them, see if they could look after the pups while in the hospital.
