Why is the hospital so expensive!?!

I went to the ER at 14 weeks for some spotting. They did an US (got that bill and it was only $40) and I was there for maybe 2 or 3 hours. The hospital bill is like $1500 and the doctor bill is nearly $700. Wtf. Seriously wtf. I went to the hospital again (25 wks) on Sunday for contractions. I'm terrified of that bill!

Because an ER will always be more expensive than an doctor's office visit. They have much more overhead (for a lot of reasons).

I went in for an ultrasound and just to consult with a doctor at the ER last month due to bleeding a lot. My bill originally was over $7,000. Insurance covered about $6,000 and left me with about a $900 bill.

It's ridiculous but that's the ER for ya!!

Ughhhh I try and stay away from hospitals. Those random doctors don't know my history like my doctors. We have an urgent care within my doctors office that's open until 10 so if I need to I just go there. To even step foot into a hospital and give my name is a deductible.
