Runny Nose and Cough

I'm a FTM. My little one has a runny nose and a cough that scares me out of my sleep at least twice every night. She even wakes herself up. She's only 8 months and I don't know what to do to get rid of this cold quicker. I've been using Zarbee's Cough Syrup, but it doesn't seem to work. Are there any other baby products or home remedies I can use to relieve her symptoms?
