Can you develope eczema?

I have never had problems with dry skin in my life by my skin is so dry lately it's cracked and peeling. I am constantly covering myself in lotion but it doesn't help, I mean it does for the moment, it's soothing but it doesn't help the problem. Does anyone know what kind of soap I can use that's for sensitive skin? And what lotion is best? 
My neck, ears, back, hands and chest are all so dry it's miserable. I have never had problems with dry skin in my life and now all the sudden it's become this huge problem.

I have had chronic skin problems my whole life. For me, it's largely an autoimmune issue combined with general skin sensitivity. I've found that coconut oil works best for me as a moisturizer. I get mine from the health food store and make sure that it's pure, cold-pressed, and organic. I use spectro-gel facial cleanser and unscented soap on my body. If you find that your rash lasts longer than two weeks, is worsening, or is noticeably spreading then you should see your doctor. It could be an indication that something more serious is going on and/or you may need a prescription skin lotion to clear things up. Corticosteroid skin lotion is often prescribed for various skin conditions.

I have had eczema ever since I was born. When I was about 7/8 it got really bad and went to the doctor to get tested and turns out dairy affects mine really badly. I had to cut all dairy out of my diet for a year then slowly introduce it back in. I use Aveeno every morning and night, it also works well in the shower, just rub it in where the eczema is bad then rinse it off, then I usually put it on when I've got out the shower. When mine gets really bad I use a hydrocortisone cream, twice a day and it works wonders to get rid of the bad stuff!

Dove is the only "soap" I will ever use I have very mild exczema. I put in parenthesis because dove does not technically have the chemical combination of soap. Also cetaphil soaps and lotions are highly recommended by dermatologists for exczema and dry/sensitive skin. Eliminate anything w perfumes or scents to it.

Yes you can develop it. Make sure your lotions have no perfumes and certain things that would make you flair up. Same for body wash as well. I know Aveeno is really good for dry sensitive skin.

I think I have patches of it on my leg. I use Aveeno cream for eczema.
